RECREATIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

RDP — Two Ways to Play. One League. More Choice.

Welcome to the Tonka United Recreational Development PROGRAM (RDP), the next step in our 45+ year Recreation Soccer tradition, serving players from Kindergarten to High School. RDP is designed for families who want more than just games, without the full-year commitment of competitive teams. It’s a flexible, development-focused option for players ready to grow, build confidence, and deepen their love for the game.

All players register for Tonka United’s Rec League, which is games only and exactly as families know it. RDP is a low-cost, high-value, optional add-on that provides 4–5 additional training sessions during the 7–9 week season. These sessions are led by US Soccer licensed Staff Coaches and supported by our Competitive, Pre-Comp, Juniors, and Junior Coaches, delivering professional, age-appropriate training alongside your regular games.

This means one league, one schedule, and the same teams and friends, with two clear ways to participate.

Rec League

Weekly games at a consistent time and location. Classic rec soccer focused on fun, teamwork, and community with no additional training beyond the preseason week.

Rec League + RDP

All Rec League games plus 4–5 RDP training sessions led by professional Staff Coaches. Players receive structured development, more touches on the ball, and a clear pathway toward Pre-Comp and Competitive Team opportunities. Families can experience the preseason RDP week included in all registrations and upgrade during the season based on what fits their player best.

Professional Coaching, Powered by Community

RDP blends full-time, US Soccer licensed Staff Coaches with the passion of our 150+ seasonal Volunteer Parent Coaches. Staff and Junior Coaches lead all RDP training, providing consistent instruction, familiar faces each week, and a clear connection to future development pathways. On game days, Volunteer Parent Coaches lead the Rec League game experience, supported on site by Competitive, Pre-Comp, Tonka Juniors, RDP Staff, and Junior Coaches. This model preserves Tonka United’s family-driven, community-first spirit while delivering professional standards that help players grow.
