Tonka United Newsletter, Volume 4
Club Communications | February 19, 2021
Well everything seems to be rollin’ in a steady groove as of late. For most of our families, the kids are adjusting to school schedules (again), parents are adjusting to the kids’ school schedules (again), and the focus continues to be on simply putting one foot in front of the other. Day by day. Week by week. Regardless of your family's school and/or work schedule, we appreciate and celebrate the differences within our community. We especially applaud the common ground we can all find, despite the different pathways, and that is the health and safety of our players, families and coaches. Cheers to working together to support active, healthy, fun opportunities for our youth to play soccer safely. Coincidently, we are wrapping up #GratitudeWeek, a time we join with Soccer Parenting Association in publicly recognizing and expressing gratitude to our coaches, players, parents, referees, team managers, volunteers, staff and board members. However, you don’t need to save all your “thanks” for just this one week out of the year. Any time is a good time for a “thank you.”
The 2006 Girls Premier team is recently back from the Del Sol President’s Cup Tournament in Phoenix, AZ. They had a blast and were fortunate to avoid some of the coldest days in Minnesota!

Priority #2: Commit to high quality play through the development of team and individual skill, technique, tactical awareness and confidence through player involvement and enjoyment.
The Tonka United Player Development Philosophy is to create an enjoyable and game-like soccer environment focused on ball possession, where players can learn to read and understand the game through multiple decision-making situations. The ultimate goal is to create confident players who love to play the game. Throughout the pandemic, we were able to implement varied tools to assist and encourage players of all skill levels to continue to work on individual development via our Soccer at Home virtual trainings.
